My artistic journey began with classical drawing and painting techniques, which led to a passion for portraiture and capturing the essence of a person at a particular moment in time. However, my creative path has evolved to focus on minimalist horizon landscapes rendered in acrylic and oil.
Inspired by the ever-changing colors of the sky and water, my work invites viewers to experience a sense of calm. The horizon’s shifting colors, which can be soft or dramatic, evoke a sense of awe. As Agnes Martin once said, "The more I drew that line, the happier I got." Her words resonate deeply with me, as I've found that the more time I spend looking at the horizon, the more I feel a sense of stillness and joy.
Through my art, I aim to transport viewers to a place of serenity, where the boundaries between self and nature dissolve. My hope is that these pieces will inspire a deep connection to the natural world and foster a profound appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
“One time, I was coming out of the mountains, and having painted the mountains, I came out on this plain and I thought, ‘Ah! What a relief…’ I thought ‘This is for me!’ The expansiveness of it. I sort of surrendered. This plain … it was just like a straight line. It was a horizontal line. And I thought there wasn’t a line that affected me like a horizontal line. Then I found the more I drew that line, the happier I got.” - Agnes Martin.
